In addition to a killer pair of heels, creative manicures proved to be the must-have accessory on the black carpet at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in L.A. on Sunday.
While Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Demi Lovato's fingers were decked out in sequins, Adele, clad in a black Burberry dress and Suzanne Felsen earrings, kept things simple and sophisticated with nude nails.
Below, celebrity manicurist Barbara Warner tells Us Weekly how she gave the "Rolling in the Deep" singer, 23, her glossy, muted mani, which was on full display and received a ton of attention during the star's "Someone Like You " performance.
"The secret to pulling off a nude manicure is to keep your look classic," Warner tells Us. "To keep her look classic but modern, I filed Adele's nails into an oval shape reminiscent of the 40s but with an updated longer length."
