On September 21, 1966, Anne and her husband welcomed their daughter back into their lives.
Anne had a nightmare about her daughter dying of a blood disease, according to the Washington Post.
Michelle Rice was diagnosed with a strange adult form of leukemia shortly after, when she was four years old.
Their daughter, however, was diagnosed with granulocytic leukemia in 1970. Anne was still in graduate school when her daughter was diagnosed with acute leukemia.
Michele died on August 5, 1972, at the age of five. She died in Palo Alto’s Stanford Children’s Hospital.
