Hours after Bobbi Kristina Brown died at age 22 on Sunday, July 26, her late mother’s cousin Dionne Warwick honored a commitment to appear on Watch What Happens Live. Addressing the tragedy in the opening moments of the episode, the R&B icon remembered the young singer as a “sweetheart” gone too soon.

WWHL host Andy Cohen began the usually lighthearted show on a somber note, asking Warwick what she wanted the world to know about Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown‘s only child.

“Oh my, do we have enough time? She was a sweetheart,” the Grammy-winning songstress replied. “She will be missed, that’s for sure. She was a good girl. She was a good little girl. She really was.”

Cohen went on to note Warwick’s poise at Houston’s funeral back in 2012, asking how the family manages in the wake of such devastation.

“It’s not easy, that’s for sure,” the 74-year-old “Don’t Make Me Over” performer admitted. “I think it’s because of our faith and strength in faith, knowing that Bobbi is now with a much, much bigger and more powerful person, or thing…than we’ll ever know. She’s in much better hands now.”

As previously reported, Bobbi Kristina passed away earlier on Sunday, almost six months after she was first hospitalized on Jan. 31. She’d been in hospice care since late June.

“She is finally at peace in the arms of God,” the Houston family said in a statement to Us Weekly. “We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”
