Was Anna Nicole Smith Suicide Cause Of Her Death? Autopsy

According to the medical examiner who performed her autopsy on Monday, Anna Nicole Smith died from an accidental prescription drug overdose last month.

The Broward County medical examiner, Dr. Joshua A. Perper, said he detected signs of several narcotics in Ms. Smith’s body, including muscle relaxants, pain remedies like methadone, and many anti-anxiety medications.

Dr. Perper explained her death as a result of a combination of drugs, the principal being the powerful sedative chloral hydrate.

During a news conference in Dania Beach, Dr. Perper indicated that the intestinal flu and a bacterial infection, presumably from injection with a tainted needle, were contributing reasons. Her system contained no illicit substances.

Ms. Smith, a former Playboy centerfold, model, and reality television personality, was unconscious in her hotel at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood on February 8. After repeated resuscitation efforts, she was confirmed dead at a local hospital that afternoon.

Dr. Perper ruled out suicide as a possibility. According to her pals, Ms. Smith was in “excellent overall spirits” in the days leading up to her flight from the Bahamas to South Florida for a four-night visit.

She also took a dancing class before departing the Bahamas on February 5 in preparation for a music video and an event for TrimSpa, a diet product she was paid to market.

Anna Nicole Smith Last Photo: Controversy and Speculation

Anna Nicole Smith, well known for her modeling and television appearances, has overcome various obstacles in her life. Personal catastrophes befell her, including the death of her son, Daniel Smith, barely months before her death.

The emotional toll of losing her son and the birth of her daughter, Dannielynn Birkhead, may have contributed to her last months.

The media frenzy and court fights that followed Smith’s death heightened public interest in the specifics of her demise. The high-profile aspect of her life and relationships, notably her friendship with Howard K. Stern, heightened media attention.

Dr. Perper refused to identify the doctors who provided Ms. Smith with the various drugs, citing privacy concerns.

He did remark, however, that Ms. Smith had a temperature of 105 the night she landed in South Florida, most likely due to an infection she developed after injecting “longevity medications,” a mix of vitamin B12, immunoglobulins, and human growth hormone, into her buttocks.

Following Ms. Smith’s death, a legal battle erupted in Broward County about who should have custody of her remains: her partner, Howard K. Stern, or her mother.

A judge eventually granted custody of her remains to her baby daughter’s court-appointed guardian, who had Ms. Smith buried close to her son in the Bahamas.
